Confessions of a Barista – August 29th, 2018

Writing and photo by Holland.

This week at Gré Coffeehouse in Palm Springs, California we hosted our monthly decades themed party. This month it was a That 70’s Show themed night, with Zeppelin, The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, and plenty more playing all night. It was full of a vast majority of people. Young and old were dressed in their finest 70’s themed clothing, ready to dance and drink coffee. It was my first time working the door, which was a little nerve wracking. I actually forgot to put everyone who paid cash into the system! I figured I could just collect their money and not charge them on the tablet, but woe and behold, I was wrong. I had to go back around and count up all the people who payed cash and put them into the system. Throughout the night there were people in and out of the party. This months decades night was different because of the crowd that came in. Usually our decades parties are all teenagers and young adults, but this month the crowd was extremely divers in more ways than one.

Gré is a place that anyone can come, and be accepted. There are no expectations when you walk through that door, only good people, good conversation, and a safe place to relax. We consider our costumers our friends, as long as you don’t walk in with 10 people and all ask for free water.

But of course remember we have so many amazing choices when you come to Gré…my personal favorite, Peach Tea!
